People often think that crowns and veneers (Hollywood Smile) are the same things but this is far from the truth. Even though there are similarities between them, one of these treatments might not be the perfect choice for you depending on the condition of your teeth.
They both can alter your smile and mouth's function drastically but rather than their similarities, their differences will tell you which one to choose.
There are a few key differences between them, one of which is durability.
The material crowns and veneers were made of might make a difference but let's assume that they are made of the same material for a better understanding.
Durability
Crowns are thicker than veneers because they are covering everything that was left from your original tooth because of decay, cracks, etc. so more durable.
The other difference is the application and purpose of usage.

Veneers are like fake nails for teeth to be put onto. They are very durable but not as much as crowns because they are less invasive.
Dentists will only be filing the surface of your teeth whereas to expose a stiffer surface for veneers to stick onto for crowns, dentists will be filing your teeth down to a base to fit an entire crown onto it.
That is why veneers might give you a better smile but your smile would last longer with crowns.
Veneers unfortunately can not cover the space of a missing tooth nor can be applied on an intricate tooth. Veneers are used to alter your smile not to fix it.
On the other hand, crowns can be used to cover that space if used as a bridge, to fix crookedness, decay, cracks, and fractures.
